The Internet of Things Map Project gave the public a glimpse into potential risk associated with the billions of exposed Internet of Things devices. During the summer of 2015, a team of Praetorian security engineers developed and partnered with DroneSense to outfit an autonomous drone with custom ZigBee-sniffing hardware used to discover, fingerprint, and map several thousand Internet of Things devices deployed across Austin, TX.
The project attracted a great deal of media attention from outlets such as Fortune Magazine, Business Insider, Tech Crunch, and many others.
