I know this was all in fun, but for someone with mobility issues, a "calmed down" version of this would be pretty useful. Of course, that's really just a regular electric can opener, but I hate those things with a burning passion, while my Swing-A-Way manual can opener never lets me down. I can see needing some help with it at some point in the future -- even now, when I have a spell of tendonitis it can be tough to twist that knob.

I would agree - electric can openers are slow and annoying to use. I think I may revisit this project in the future - making it simpler to use.
What features would you want to see in a "better" can opener (for people who don't like current electric ones, and may have tendonitis)?
